Pistol Australia Train-on Squad (PATS)
About PATS
The Pistol Australia Train-on Squad (PATS) was established in 2002 for the purpose of developing the technical, physical and psychological skills of Pistol Australia (PA) members with potential to succeed in target pistol shooting and who have the expressed desire to pursue a career in the sport at the elite level. Therefore PATS is a conduit to the Australian International Shooting Limited (AISL) High Performance Program and is governed by the PATS Policy.
Each year eligible PA members are invited to join the PATS team after the ISSF & PA National Championships, which are usually conducted during the week prior to and over Easter. Membership spans a twelve (12) month period and athletes who have shown marked improvement may be invited to remain in the squad for an additional year.
PATS Camps are held each year at venues such as the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra or at the Sydney International Shooting Centre. During these camps the PATS team receives coaching on various aspects of mental, physical and technical training by nationally recognised experts in those respective areas.
On the basis of individual PATS member’s performance Pistol Australia may provide funding for selected members to compete in an international competition, which provides them the benefit of gaining valuable experience at the elite level.
