PA National Performance Squad

The Pistol Australia Train-on Squad (PATS) was established in 2002 for the purpose of developing the technical, physical and psychological skills of Pistol Australia (PA) members with potential to succeed in target pistol shooting and who have a desire to pursue a career in the sport at the elite level. 

In 2009 PA reviewed and undertook to restructure the PATS program in 2010 with the aim of including a broader base of PA members for the purpose of enhancing the benefit to individual squad members.  Thus the PA National Performance Squad (PANPS) program aims to include PA members from the AISL High Performance Squad, existing PATS members, experienced shooters and, shooters with a disability.

The PANPS program is governed by the PANPS policy and the management structure consists of a Squad Coordinator, Squad Coach Coordinator and a representative form PA Management.

Eligibility to PANPS is by way of achieving two (2) qualifying scores shot initially as at 1 January 2010 and thereafter within twelve (12) months prior to nominating for Squad membership.  Membership to PANPS is valid for twelve (12) months with entry commencing throughout the year.  Members are required to re qualify and re-nominate following expiry of twelve (12) month membership period.

To nominate for memberships to PANPS, eligible PA members are required to complete a PANPS Nomination Form, which must be submitted through respective State / Territory Association to PANPS Management team for consideration and final approval by PA Management.

A minimum of two (2) PANPS training camps will be conducted depending on squad size and budget allocation.  Training camps will provide coaching on various aspects of technical, psychological and physical training techniques, shoulder-to-shoulder competition between squad members and a platform for the selection of teams to compete at international competition.  Personal coaches of PANPS members may submit a request to PA to attend PANPS camps at the expense of the respective personal coach.
