Inaugural 2026 TPA National Club Championship to feature teams from across AustraliaTPA is pleased to announce the inaugural 2026 TPA National Club Championship, a major new national competition that will bring together a 12-team field in its first year.In a significant achievement for a new competition, the inaugural championship has attracted teams representing every Australian state and territory except the Australian Capital Territory. The field includes entries from New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia, with the Northern Territory represented through a combined TAS/NT team.TPA President Ray Andrews OAM said the strength of the inaugural response reflected the enthusiasm for a regular national club competition and the opportunities created by modern competition delivery.“The inaugural year has had a fantastic response from across the country and will be the start of a great club competition that utilises modern technology to permit competition between clubs on a regular basis,” Mr Andrews said.The 12 teams will be drawn into two groups of six on a live range report show to be held at 700pm AEDT on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, ahead of competition commencing in the week beginning 14 April 2026. Each group will contest a five-round round robin, with a live league table maintained throughout the competition.The round-robin phase will feature 30 matches, with the top two teams in each group progressing to the Championship semi-finals and Grand Final to determine the inaugural 2026 TPA National Club Champion. Teams finishing third and fourth in each group will compete for the Plate, while teams finishing fifth and sixth will contest the Bowl.The championship will be contested across 10m Air Pistol and 25m Pistol, with four-athlete teams comprising two competitors in each discipline. TPA will support delivery of the competition through streaming technology and, where required, Starlink connectivity for remote clubs, helping ensure clubs across the country can participate in this new national format.The inaugural National Club Champion will receive a perpetual trophy, a replica trophy for the winning club, and medals for first, second and third place team members. Plate and Bowl honours will also be awarded.The inaugural field comprises Campbelltown Pistol Club and Genesys Pistol (NSW); Rhein Donau Team A, Rhein Donau Team B and Northam Pistol Club (WA); Noarlunga City Team A, Noarlunga City Team B and Sturt Pistol Club (SA); Tasmanian Pistol and Rifle Club (TAS) and the TPRC/Palmerston Pistol Club combined team (TAS/NT); Toowoomba Pistol Club (QLD); and Mildura Pistol Club (VIC).The launch of the 2026 TPA National Club Championship marks an important milestone for club competition in Australia, establishing a truly national event from the outset and creating a strong platform for future growth.ENDSAbout TPATPA is committed to developing and delivering innovative competition opportunities that connect clubs across Australia and support the continued growth of the sport.
