Target Pistol Australia Officials Pathway

LEVEL 1 Range Officer Prerequisites
•    Applicant must be over the age of 18 years
•    Applicant must have a full Category H Firearms License.
•    Application must be a Capitated Member of Target Pistol Australia.

Application & Study Course

  • Fill in the attached application form and sent to your State Referee Council director (Links below)
  • They will set you up to do an on-line theory course which can be run at your own pace. Once completed you will be invited to attend a revision weekend with others to go over what you have learnt and discuss with your supervisor.
  • The on-line course is not match specific; it mainly is concerned with the basics of how to run a range safely. There are range officer guide sheets available for every ISSF, Service-WA1500, Black powder & Action Pistol matches that Target Pistol Australia members shoot. These MUST be used as a guide for these matches.
  • A Short practical examination with set safety scenarios will then be conducted that you must pass.
  • There are several Sports Integrity Australia courses that you will be asked to complete before your application can be processed.

LEVEL 2 Range Officer Prerequisites

  • Applicant must be over the age of 18 years
  • Applicant must have a full Category H Firearms License.
  • Application must be a Capitated Member of Target Pistol Australia.
  • Applicant should have a minimum of 2+ years competition experience at open competitions, State and Nationals championships. Much of what you need to know can be learnt on these ranges from practical experience.

  • They will set you up to do an on-line theory course which can be run at your own pace. Once completed you will be invited to attend a revision weekend with others to go over what you have learnt and discuss with your supervisor.
  • A Short practical examination with set scenarios will then be conducted that you must pass. As part of this assessment, you will need to show that you are confident in running a competition at a State or Nationals Level.
  • There are several Sports Integrity Australia courses that you will be asked to complete before your application can be processed.
