The PDT is responsible for:

  • Setting a strategic direction for athlete and coaching pathways.
  • Identifying, prioritising, and managing initiatives to improve pistol shooting development.
  • Providing strategic and technical advice to TPA on all aspects of athlete and coach progression.

This positions the PDT as both a planning and governance entity, directly shaping the future of athlete and coaching programs.


The PDT’s objectives are wide-ranging and interconnected:

  • Pathway Management
    Oversee the Athlete and Coaching Pathway, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Program Development
    Identify and recommend initiatives to improve training quality, accessibility, and coach/athlete education.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    Foster partnerships with:
    • National governing bodies
    • Shooting associations
    • Coaches and athletes
    • Educational institutions

These collaborations aim to ensure broad alignment and stronger implementation.

  • Alignment with Shooting Australia (SA)
    Maintain coordination with SA to ensure pathway alignment across organisations.
  • Performance Monitoring
    Continuously evaluate progress, adjusting strategies as required.
  • Reporting
    Provide regular updates and recommendations to TPA and stakeholders on development progress and emerging needs.
